Key Responsibilities:
- Case Management: Assist solicitors in managing files, including document preparation, case tracking, and filing. You will also manage a small caseload of lower-value or routine cases as appropriate.
- Document Preparation: Draft and prepare legal documents, including contracts, correspondence, pleadings, and reports, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Client Communication: Act as a key point of contact for clients, providing regular updates, answering queries, and gathering information to progress cases.
- Research: Conduct legal research to support case preparation, including researching relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents.
- Court Filings: Prepare and file legal documents with courts and other legal bodies, ensuring all submissions are completed on time.
- Billing and Fee Management: Assist in billing processes, manage time entries, and ensure accurate recording of chargeable hours for cases.
- Administrative Support: Perform general administrative duties, including managing solicitor schedules, booking meetings, and maintaining organized case files.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or Fee Earner within a law firm, ideally with exposure to managing your own caseload.
- Understanding of legal procedures and relevant legal documentation.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management software.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Paralegal certification or legal assistant training is a plus.
- Experience in a specific area of law, such as personal injury, conveyancing, family law, or litigation.
