Legal Compliance Manager
- Location: Buckinghamshire (Hybrid option available)
- Salary: £35k - £45k per annum
An esteemed high street law practice with a national reputation for excellence is seeking a Legal Compliance Manager. This role is pivotal in maintaining the firm’s adherence to professional standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator with a comprehensive understanding of legal compliance frameworks.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Oversee risk management for the firm, ensuring all practices align with professional standards and regulations.
- Act as the Complaints Manager, addressing client complaints and liaising with the Legal Ombudsman as necessary.
- Communicate with Professional Indemnity Insurance regarding claims.
- Review and update the firm’s policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Conduct training sessions for the firm, advising on necessary training and maintaining risk registers, including high-risk and breach registers.
- Develop best practices for the firm to follow, ensuring staff compliance with obligations and quality standards.
- Keep knowledge up-to-date, address training needs, and attend courses as appropriate.
- Participate in monthly meetings to report on compliance status and strategies.
Required Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a similar role is essential
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
- Strong investigative skills and a sound knowledge of the law within their area of practice.
- Ability to handle a varied workload and adapt to a changing environment.
- Professional approach to work, maintaining patience and good manners at all times.
- Supervisory skills with the ability to respond to employee needs.
- Highly organised with the capability to manage issues across multiple locations.
- A sound understanding of Lexcel requirements, SRA handbook, LAA Crime Contract and Specifications, and AML regulations.
- Good working knowledge of the SRA and Law Society requirements, including SQMs.
- Knowledge of the legal aid and criminal frameworks.
