Job Type: Full-timeContract Type: PermanentLocation: Bedford MK41 7BJShift: 20:00 – 06:00, 4 days on / 2 offSalary: £18.74 per hour + night allowance of £1.67 per hour between 22:00 and 06:00Class 1 licence requiredBasic vehicle maintenance knowledge is an advantage.We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Vehicle Shunter to join our team at the Bedford RDC. In this role, you will be responsible for manoeuvring Class 1 and 2 vehicles within the Bedford Transport yard, delivering and collecting vehicles from service providers, and handling deliveries to bulk customers.Job PurposeYou will ensure the efficient movement of company vehicles to support loading and unloading operations, while complying with safety regulations and maintaining clear communication throughout your shift.Key Responsibilities• Safely manoeuvre company vehicles to facilitate smooth loading and unloading operations.• Conduct pre-operational checks on vehicles.• Maintain consistent radio communication with despatch offices and promptly report any delays affecting operations.• Ensure compliance with traffic regulations and use a tachograph card to record all duties and breaks, in line with the Working Time Directive legislation.• Monitor vehicle refrigeration temperatures and report any defects immediately.• Report vehicle accidents and sanitation issues, ensuring cleanliness of vehicles and trailers.• Transfer vehicles and trailers to and from service providers as required.• Occasionally deliver goods to customers.• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Transport Team Manager.Key Requirements• Numerate and literate.• Valid vehicle/equipment operator licences.• Proven experience in warehousing and distribution operations.• Demonstrable experience operating vehicles and equipment.Additional Responsibilities• Ensure compliance with "The Blakemore Way" and uphold our values.• Maintain confidentiality in line with the Data Protection Act.• Commit to equality, diversity, and health & safety standards.• Adhere to all company policies and legal requirements relevant to the role.Why Join Us?At A.F.
