Main Duties:
Rotation Involvement:
- Neuro Outliers
- Hyperacute Stroke
- Stroke Rehabilitation
- RHRU (Regional Neuro Rehab Unit)
- Stroke Early Supported Discharge Team - Brent and Harrow
Service Commitment:
- Participate in 7-day services with scheduled rest days.
Patient Care:
- Deliver high-quality occupational therapy services to stroke patients across different stages of their recovery.
Collaboration:
- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to develop and implement patient care plans.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Apply clinical reasoning and evidence-based practices to assess and treat patients.
- Utilize therapy adjuncts relevant to neuro-OT, including wheelchair prescription and cognitive assessments.
Development and Training:
- Engage in ongoing professional development.
- Potentially contribute as a clinical educator or mentor for students and junior staff.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Degree in Occupational Therapy (OT)
- Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
Desirable:
- Postgraduate courses specific to neurology
- Membership in Specialist Society of Neuro-Physiotherapists (SSNP)
Experience:
Essential:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience at Band 5 level, including neuro-OT experience
- NHS experience
Desirable:
- Experience with therapy adjuncts for neuro-OT
- Experience in clinical audit
- Experience in taking students or teaching roles
Skills:
Essential:
- High standard of communication within MDT settings
- Evidence of clinical reasoning and effective treatment planning
Desirable:
- Experience as a clinical educator or in teaching roles
