Maintenance Engineer required for a manufacturer based in Worthing. The engineer must provide excellent service and support to both the Production and Production Engineering departments. This role requires both technical aptitude and good behavioural attitude to their work and customer base.
Maintenance Engineer Position Overview
- Respond to breakdown of production equipment/machines or failure of process, investigate, diagnose faults, and restore production function.
- Work with the production engineering team to adhere to and deliver the machine maintenance program, for production equipment, machines, and plant including robots.
- As part of on-going development, the engineer has personal responsibility and accountability for self-learning and development, supported by appropriate training and qualifications, identified, and offered by the business. This is to ensure a sound grasp of fundamental engineering principles and development of key skills. As directed by the Production Engineering Manager, Senior Production Engineer, and Production Engineer Robotics.
- The engineer is responsible, as part of a team, for maintaining production equipment as per the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) cycles used on critical equipment and for providing a rapid response to reactive maintenance calls to ensure minimal production down time on the company CNC machines, presses, robots, and other mechanical and electromechanical systems.
- Responsible and accountable for working as part of the Production Engineering team to be an effective team member, with the aim of supporting activity to improve quality, delivery, cost and most importantly health and safety.
- As directed by the business, participate in the late shift working Rota, and support weekend working when requested to enable effective delivery of critical PPM and continued delivery of develop, improve, and maintain activity for the business.
- Share knowledge and best practice. Assist others in their training and development.
- Responsible for supporting production regarding ad-hoc requests to ensure an optimum working environment. This is driven principally through the Kaizen system and projects.
- Adhere, contribute, and constructively challenge departmental processes and procedures in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001 2015.
Maintenance Engineer Position Requirements
- Mechanical Engineering qualification or relevant time served.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a machine maintenance role.
- Knowledge based in a production manufacturing environment.
- Experience of servicing machines to include part and component substitution.
- Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of machine shop equipment, i.e., mill, lathe, pillar drill.
- Knowledge of CNC machine operation would be beneficial.
- Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams would be an advantage.
- Experience of Hydraulics, pneumatics, electromechanical an advantage.
- Experience of robotics maintenance, breakdown, and programming would be beneficial.
