My client is on the lookout for a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Engineer to ensure the efficient operation of their facilities and equipment. This role is crucial for maintaining and repairing machinery, equipment, and infrastructure to minimise downtime, optimise production, and uphold the highest safety standards.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Servicing and Repair: Conduct regular servicing, fault-finding, and fixing of day-to-day plant issues.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop proactive strategies to enhance the smooth and efficient running of plant operations, including engaging with operators to promote autonomous working on lines and supporting the creation or updating of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Emergency Response: Respond swiftly to breakdown requests from production, handle emergencies, and address unplanned problems efficiently.
  • Contractor Liaison: Coordinate with external contractors as needed and oversee contractor control on site.
  • Maintenance and Compliance: Assist with general maintenance duties onsite in line with audit non-conformances and BRC Site Standards, including site fabrication audits.
  • Performance Monitoring: Compile KPIs to reflect weekly performance and strive for proactive initiatives, including Planned Preventative Maintenance, Top Loss Data Analysis, Corrective Maintenance, Asset Management, and Business Continuity Planning.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to daily plant issues.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of industrial mechanical maintenance, electrical fault finding, pumps, pneumatics, and PLCs (desirable).
  • Communication: Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a small production team.
  • Leadership: Coaching and mentoring skills to drive autonomous working among peers.
  • Qualifications: Recognised Engineering qualifications are essential.
  • Experience: LEAN manufacturing knowledge and FMCG experience are desirable.
  • Flexibility: Ability to undertake flexible hours based on business needs.
