An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanic to join our friendly team at our Maintenance depot in Pershore.We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to ensure that our company heavy goods vehicles, plant and equipment are maintained and operated correctly in a safe and efficient condition and that all repair and maintenance works are carried out in the most effective manner.This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience and work on Heavy Goods Vehicles as well as various heavy plant.All hand tools, power tools and equipment are providedOur promise to you- Competitive salary- 21 days’ annual leave (full-time working) plus Bank Holidays- Pension scheme- Life insurance- On the job training and progression- Recognition scheme- Refer a friend- Flexible benefits including high street savings, Gymflex membership and many more.- Access to an Employee Assistance Programme and the Best Doctors Service via our Wellbeing Platform.What will you be doing?Duties will include:- Maintain company equipment, vehicle and plant to ensure its continued safe and efficient operation.- Maintain records of planned routine/preventative maintenance and repair programmes for vehicles, equipment and plant.- Carry out preventive maintenance.- Investigate equipment/vehicle failures and rectify defects in a timely manner.- Maintain minor repairs and defects rectification system.- Liaise with external agencies and private contractors to support the maintenance and upkeep of the facilities.- Assist in the instruction of other appropriate staff in the daily operation of all associated plant and machinery.- Carry out modifications, improvement activities and other tasks to reduce down-time of vehicles, plant and equipment.- Supervise Contractors on site and issue/close Permits to Work.- Carry out inspections on machinery/plant/equipment in accordance with planned maintenance each month.- Undertake replacement of worn parts either as required or on a regular replacement cycle.- Support reordering process for workshop availability of essential spares.What are we looking for?- Previous experience in a similar roleThis is a busy role and applicants would be expected to be adaptable and become comfortable to work on a variety of different tasks and machineryAbout UsSevern Waste Services is the public face of municipal waste management in Worcestershire and Herefordshire.
