Job Description :

The purpose of the Maintenance Operative role is to provide a reliable and efficient repair and maintenance service for the Trust's buildings and it's residents. You will be expected to meet the daily challenges whilst providing a safe environment in which the residents can enjoy life.

Key Results

Summary of responsibilities

  • Carry out all routine, planned and emergency maintenance and repair work. This can include plumbing, electrical, carpentry across all sites.
  • Maintain and secure a safe estates environment by reporting and recording any concerns including those of safety nature.
  • Report to site emergencies by coordination the appropriate response, which may require additional hours to cover.
  • Respond appropriately to any queries from the residents, colleagues or visitors and direct them to the correct person, when necessary.
  • Build strong relationships with the team and colleagues from different departments.
  • Travel and work across all sites.
  • Manage maintenance equipment, stock and re-order supplied when needed.
  • Provide rota emergency cover- currently one week in eight.

Other Skills and Qualifications

Essential

  • Industry recognised apprenticeship or City and Guilds electrical or plumbing qualification or equivalent.
  • Basic health and safety, first aid, fire procedures and manual handling.
  • Working experience of building services.
  • Plumbing and/ or electrical maintenance
  • Clean, current driving license.
  • Awareness of older people's needs and some understanding of dementia.

Desirable

  • Carpentry/ decorating experience.
  • Working with older people, preferably in a care home environment.
  • Working across multiple sites with large buildings.
  • Practical knowledge of emergency call and door entry systems
  • Practical knowledge of plumbing/ heating systems and controls
  • Practical knowledge of the Electricity at Work Act and the 17th/18th edition of the I.E.E. regulations

Salary range: £30,534.40-£32,427.20 per annum, dependent on experience.

Hours: 40 hours per week, working Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm. On-call rota to be worked 1 week in 10 (availability and enhancements paid).
