My client a top US law firm are currently looking for a Management Accountant to join their busy team in the City of London. This role involves a range of accounting responsibilities, including the preparation of detailed management accounts, budgets whilst ensuring the on-going improvement in quality of output for the purposes of providing more meaningful management information to the London & Brussels management and NY accounting teams.
Duties:
- Prepare detailed annual expense budgets for the London office and oversee the Brussels office budget.
- Produce monthly management accounts and budgetary control variance analysis.
- Conduct monthly G/L analysis and lead quarterly management accounts review meetings with departmental managers.
- Develop quarterly expense forecasting and reporting required by London & Brussels managers.
- Maintain payroll journal entries and oversee payroll accounting including reconciling all staff benefits
- Compile the annual capital expenditure budget and oversee the Brussels office monthly VAT return reconciliation.
- Prepare annual government data surveys and develop key data packages for management accounts.
- Support the Accounting Manager with various accounting projects and report on all work duties and tasks.
- Provide cover for Accounting team members during periods of absence and liaise with the New York Accounts department as necessary.
- Handle ad-hoc queries and reports as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree educated, BA in Accounting or similar preferred.
- Part and/or Qualified Accountant preferred.
- Previous accounting experience in legal or professional services.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills.
- Experience using Elite 3E or a comparable accounting system.
- Strong understanding of UK VAT rules.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to present information effectively.
- Highly organised with excellent time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Capable of multitasking and prioritising with minimal direction.
- Excellent attention to detail and sound judgment.
- Proactive ‘can do, will do’ approach.
- Ability to work in a high-charged, fast-paced environment.
- Availability to work additional hours when necessary.
