Our client is part of the NDA group of businesses based in west Cumbria. We have a requirement for a Management Accountant to join their Headquarters based at Moor Row, near Whitehaven, on a fixed term basis for 12 months. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, you will provide an important link between the Financial Planning & Analysis, Business Partnering and Financial Operations teams whilst supporting non-finance colleagues. Close liaison and interaction with the executive team, waste management, operations and programme/project managers, as well as NDA Group Finance and Internal Audit.Key responsibilities of this job are: -
- Proactively engage with Finance Business Partners to capture value of work done assessments and expenditure forecasts; determine the value of associated accruals and prepayments;
- Prepare journals whilst ensuring an appropriate audit trail; support the preparation of financial inputs to the monthly performance reporting and quarterly performance review cycles;
- Support the maintenance of cost models used to support the invoicing of chargeable work, passthrough costs and the allocation of costs based on staff time booking or other resource allocation methods;
- Responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial data as reported in the management accounts, and for meeting the legal requirements for financial reporting and any other standards that may be required by NDA or government;
- Support continuous improvement in the quality, accessibility, relevance and timeliness of the management accounts;
- Support the preparation of cashflow forecasts and the drawdown of funding from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA);
- Approve new vendor records having completed due diligence checks. Create and proactively manage programme, project, cost centre and budget records on the financial system;
- Review supply chain invoices and employee expenses claims;
Skills required:
- Experience gained in similar role: including collaborative working in cross functional teams; ability to determine business needs and develop insightful management information using specialist financial reporting tools; experience of forecasting and cost estimation.
- ICT literate with extensive knowledge of finance systems, Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word and good Excel skills. An awareness of Government Accounting and Managing Public Money would be beneficial.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, high level of accuracy and attention to detail, ability to manage time to meet external and internal deadlines, diplomatic, tact and confidentiality.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills are required as the post holder will be expected to engage with individuals at all levels, both internally and externally
