Our client, a dynamic and fast-growing biotechnology company, is at the forefront of innovation, committed to advancing the accessibility of biology through cutting-edge technologies. They are seeking an experienced and fully qualified Management Accountant to join their finance team.
Role Overview: As a key member of the finance team, the Management Accountant will be responsible for end-to-end management reporting, working closely with the Global Financial Controller.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reconciliation, review, and investigation of all balance sheet accounts.
- Production of project reporting, including internal R&D projects and grant reporting with quarterly claim submissions.
- Preparation of VP/departmental cost reporting, commercial metrics, revenue, and order reporting.
- Cash flow forecasting and reporting.
- Consolidation and preparation of monthly management accounts, commentary, and variance analysis.
- Assisting in the annual budget compilation and payroll review.
- Supporting year-end audit and statutory accounts and reporting.
- Assisting in UK corporation tax and R&D tax credit estimates.
- Management of PSA and P11D calculations, HMRC share option reporting, and preparation of Quarterly VAT returns.
- Intercompany recharges and account reconciliation.
- Managing the PVA and reconciling it to HMRC statements.
- Providing support for AP and AR duties as needed (particularly holiday and sickness cover).
- Updating and creating system and process notes and making recommendations for process and system improvements.
- Assisting with the implementation of new finance systems and processes.
- Providing ad hoc support to the Global Financial Controller and other finance colleagues.
Requirements:
- Fully ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified.
- Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience, ideally within industry.
- Expertise in technical accounting, including group consolidations.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing management accounts and related internal reporting, with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented, organised, and with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
- Experience working in the BioTech or Life Sciences industry is desirable.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and experience working in a group of companies would be an advantage.
