JOB PURPOSE Burberry is looking for an outstanding Manager to join our Retail Merchandising team. Within this position you will lead, inspire and take accountability for retail merchandising activities within the RTW division. You will lead by example, acting as an ambassador for Burberry, fostering a culture of simplification, innovation, collaboration and driving excellence across the business. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Pre-Market Activities: Partner with Collection Merchandising for Raw Material forecasting, on-time delivery and excess management, while performing hindsight analysis on option performance and productivity to determine future collection plans
  • Range Plan and Initial Margin: Propose seasonal margin targets at point of Range Plan, to provide a strategic direction aligned to the business and support Collection Merchandising in achieving an appropriate initial margin
  • Capsule Open to Buy Guidance: Develop Capsule Collection Open to Buy Guidance aligned with Finance Budgets, by Division/Category, including recommendations for option adoption, distribution strategy, and depth to ensure sufficient COTB to support assortment and divisional strategy
  • Market Collection & Buy Analysis: Partner with the Category Manager to build Market Open to Buy templates, assess Regional Buys, and manage raw materials effectively following order placement, cutting to clear where appropriate to balance RM vs finished goods excess
  • In-Season Trading:
    • Develop quarterly product insights and commentary for Investor Relations teams in support of earnings announcements
    • Provide bi-weekly stock rebalance recommendations and manage re-orders, pull forwards, and deliveries with the supply chain to optimise inventory efficiency and maximise sales revenue
    • Oversee product lifecycle and delist proposals with Collection Merchants and Category Managers
    • Regularly meet with Regional teams to analyse regional trade performance and offer Central support, and collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Marketing, VM, Client Engagement, and Regional Retail Teams to boost sales
    • Undertake customer and competitor insight analysis
  • Team Leadership: Embody the Burberry Leadership Standards and actively engage in coaching and mentoring activities, driving individual personal and professional development
PERSONAL PROFILE
  • Proven experience in Retail Merchandising for a luxury brand with strong analytical skills and deep product knowledge
  • In-depth understanding of the competitor landscape and global luxury market nuances, with a background in fast-paced commercial environments
  • Demonstrated experience in Global Open to Buy management, decision-making, and developing strategic product and business initiatives
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate across all organisational levels and cultures
  • Dynamic, collaborative style with a focus on building positive relationships with cross-functional teams and exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and SAP is advantageous
