Market Risk Lead - Harvey John : Job Details

We've been instructed on a Market Risk Specialist position with an international company seeking a specialist in European power and gas. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with substantial experience in the energy sector to take on a key role within their London-based team.

The ideal candidate will have a background in market risk management, as well as experience in commodities and derivatives. Additionally, you'll be comfortable liaising with trading teams and other departments across the business and advising on market risk.

This role requires working with a large degree of autonomy, and activities will include identifying, understanding, measuring, analysing, and mitigating market risks stemming from various supply & trading activities across the globe.

Do you have:

• 4+ years experience working in commodities risk management or product control?
• In-depth understanding of the energy industry, with a particular emphasis on the European Power & Gas markets and associated products?
• Expertise in commodity and derivatives hedging?
• A solid understanding of financial derivatives as they relate to energy and fuel price risk management?
• Experience dealing with risk management governance processes?
• Proficiency in MS Excel?
• Strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently?

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Identify, analyse and mitigate market risks through the use of financial instruments
• Validate and assess charges for key market risks in order to approve new deals and provide support to supply & trading in taking on risk
• Continuously monitor the supply & trading portfolio and associated exposures on risks and ensure they remain within acceptable limits
• Provide regular and ad-hoc reporting to senior management highlighting key risk metrics, emerging risks, and compliance with risk policies
