Our clientWe are delighted to be working with a leading manufacturer to recruit several new Mechanical Design Engineers who will join their team in County Durham, home to one of their manufacturing sites. They have recently won new long-term high-value contracts and are expanding their Design team to support this growth.
The opportunityReporting to the Design Engineering Manager, responsibilities include:
- Creating models and drawings using 3D CAD in Solidworks
- Responsible for the management and control of engineering drawings and document in accordance with Drawing Office standards and methods.
- Creating drawings using 3D CAD in Solidworks.
- To compile manufacturing documentation and training and support reliability analysis and testing.
- Management of changes through the ECN procedures.
- Drawings according to ISO and BS standards.
- Development of drawings for machined, punched, cast or moulded parts.
- Investigation of new suppliers for existing and new technologies for cost reduction.
- Investigation of new materials and processes.
- Contribute to design reviews as part of company ISO process.
- Review of mechanical properties of parts and assemblies (thermal, mechanical stress etc) using 3D analysis software.
- Design of jigs and fixtures.
- Responsible for the upkeep and improvement of existing generic process, maintenance and standards documentation.
- Deployment of manufacturing documentation using the current systems in place.
About youThe successful candidate will have:
- Degree (equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, with 2 + years industrial experience.
- 2D and 3D Solid modelling experience.
- Knowledge of machining/ casting/ moulding/ coating or plating processes 2D & 3D.
- Must be a highly motivated individual able to interface effectively with internal & external customers.
