Self-Employed (Sole Trader or Limited Company) Mechanical Fitter Opportunities
Pay Rate Range: £20 to £23 Per Hour
Overtime Rates: Time and a Half Weekdays + Saturdays / Sunday's Paid Double Time.
Core Hours: 37.5 Per Week (Monday to Friday, 7am to 3pm).
Core + Overtime Hours: Up to 60-Per Week (12-Hours Per Day)*.
*Some Weekend Work Required During Peak Periods.
After Successfully completing 3-Months / 12-Weeks trial you will become an employed permanent team member and receive all the additional employee benefits.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in service and repairs, with hands-on experience using various tools and equipment (lathes, mills, pillar drills, and other power tools / machinery). As a Fitter, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that components are accurately assembled and fitted to meet quality standards for service and refit repairs.
Duties:
- Fabricate, assemble metal components according to specifications and technical drawings.
- Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively to complete tasks efficiently.
- Repairing, fabricating, replacing mechanical parts such as couplings, pumps, gear boxes, pipework, bearings etc.
- Conduct inspections of finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment by adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and improve processes.
- Apply basic maths skills for measurements and calculations during fabrication processes.
- Based in a busy workshop environment.
- Travelling to other docks to repair ships and naval vessels in London and Portsmouth using company car.
- When no fitting work available due to project completion you will be utilised for other duties and responsibilities across the workshop and company.
Requirements:
- Proven experience using lathes, mills, pillar drills etc.
- Strong mechanical knowledge repairing and fixing couplings, pumps, gear boxes, pipework, bearings etc.
- Familiarity with stick and MMA welding.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
- Must have good English communication skills (written and verbal).
- Valid UK driving license no more than 6-points.
- Eligible to work full-time and permanent in the UK.
