Job Description :

SPEC Engineering Ltd are seeking an experienced Mechanical Static Equipment Design Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing process columns, reactors, and exchangers and will have a strong understanding of industry standards, including ASME, TEMA, and other international codes. The candidate will be responsible for the design, analysis, and development of static equipment used in the chemical, petrochemical, and industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop static mechanical equipment, including process columns, reactors, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels.
  • Perform mechanical design calculations and simulations for equipment based on project requirements.
  • Utilize industry standards (e.g., ASME, TEMA, API, and other relevant codes) in the design process to ensure safety, compliance, and quality.
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other advanced simulation techniques for structural and thermal analysis of equipment.
  • Provide technical support throughout the fabrication and installation phases, including review of shop drawings and vendor submittals.
  • Engage in the preparation of design reports, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in design reviews, ensuring compliance with all technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design issues related to mechanical equipment, ensuring optimized performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work closely with other engineering disciplines (process, piping, instrumentation, etc.) to integrate mechanical systems into overall project designs.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and technological advances to ensure designs are innovative and in line with current best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering, specifically in the design of process columns, reactors, heat exchangers, and pressure vessels.
  • Proven experience in working with pressure vessel manufacturers.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with design codes such as ASME (Section VIII, Section II, and Section IX), TEMA, API, and other relevant international standards.
  • Proficiency in the use of Compress, NozzlePRO, FEA software (ANSYS) for structural and thermal analysis of mechanical equipment.
  • Experience with material selection, welding, fabrication processes, and manufacturing techniques used in the construction of pressure vessels and static equipment.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with design optimization and cost reduction techniques.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
