This role is part of a fast growing and successful FMCG business based in the UK. A fully vertically integrated business with In-house Design, Sales and marketing functions and the added value of a manufacturing plant and importing division along with a wholesale distribution site.

Working in a fast paced, changing environment, assisting with the development and growth of various brands by building relationships with both customer and suppliers from all over the world.

Relationship skills are paramount to this role for the internal and external success of the business.

Reporting into the Commercial Director you will be assisting to identify market opportunities:

Duties include:

  • Support the Business Development Manager in driving the NPD process
  • Conducting range reviews and gap analysis to determine new product ranges
  • Coordinating key aspects of new product launches
  • Identifying opportunities to improve existing products /refining current ranges
  • Assisting in sourcing and buying of finished goods and components
  • Identifying market opportunities together with the business development manager in selected categories and markets
  • Liaising with the NPD team with product and technical details
  • Preparing quotes/specifications for supplier meetings/procurement
  • Planning and preparing for customer and sales meetings and assisting with the presentation of product launch plans, presentations and catalogues
  • Implementing/improving current systems
  • Meeting and building relationships with key customers, identifying and progressing sales opportunities
  • Meeting and building relationships with key suppliers to minimise costs where possible
  • Assisting in preparing customer presentations for national accounts and various UK channels
  • Involvement in the buying process and placing orders
  • Preparing marketing data to analyse performance, identifying current trends for future planning
  • Maintain accurate price lists and distribute information to relevant account managers, BDM’s and Marketing
  • Completing internal documentation forms to ensure all products are priced correctly using components costing where applicable
  • Oversee coordination of logistics from plant/supplier to distribution centre
  • Communicate commercial updates to the sales team remotely at regular weekly & monthly meetings
  • Preparing and collating reports

Skills Required

  • Strong communication and organisational skills both written and verbal
  • Team work is key to be able to liaise between Internal Departments such as ,Sales, Marketing , Compliance, Warehouse and operations
  • Detail is key as you can be involved /immersed in the NPD process and in product development from idea to prototype , presentation then production
  • Resilience is a requirement as is an ability to demonstrate initiative when working in a team or independently
  • Flexibility due to seasonality and travel - this role is office based however there will an element of travel to customers, supplier meetings and Trade shows
  • Extensive experience within a FMCG environment with strong knowledge of importing.
  • Experience of product development, category management and range assortment
  • Capability to work in a fast paced dynamic environment
