Job Title: Network Architect Job Description

The role has accountability for the end-to-end design of the Cisco Viptela/Catalyst product through to delivery. You will ensure the process is carried out efficiently, achieving the best fit into the company's networks and IT systems. This role takes into account low-level platform and infrastructure design, as well as end-to-end lifecycle management of products.

Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the Cisco Viptela/Catalyst Product architecture and high-level design, ensuring that the Product Requirements are met by owning the overall design.
  • Ensure the end-to-end design complies with design principles (e.g. Security & Privacy by Design) and strikes an agreed balance between compliance to requirement, delivery time, cost, and quality.
  • Translate functional and non-functional requirements into solutions that span the end-to-end implementation, including determination of costs for development.
  • Determine product/service technical building blocks and their interactions, and deliver the relevant documentation.
  • Responsible for the technical aspects of vendor management, setting technical priorities, and driving product improvement.
  • Accountable for the end-to-end In-Life Operating Model.
  • Own the product lifecycle, responsible for the Total Cost of Ownership, including driving operational cost efficiencies, and ensuring 'end of life' events are managed appropriately.
  • Work closely with the Service Designers’ team to ensure a clear and successful interlock between high-level design and service design.
  • Engage key product stakeholders to understand product performance in life and identify opportunities for improvement.
Essential Skills
  • Expert level in IP technology and connectivity practices.
  • General experience with connectivity provider practices.
  • Good technical background and a flexible nature to adapt to additional products entering the business portfolio.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills to drive transformation.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and manage workload.
  • Customer-driven mindset, critical judgement, and problem-solving focus.
  • Routing and Switching expert knowledge.
  • Firewall, NAT, and Proxy expertise.
  • In-depth WAN or local DC experience, ideally in a service design role.
  • Ethernet and Optical knowledge.
  • IP/MPLS, SD-WAN, SDN/NFV, and Mobile Data Access knowledge.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Good level of insight into international portfolio, local markets networks, and public/private cloud provider networks such as Amazon AWS, Google, and Microsoft.
  • CCNP certification is valued.
