Job Overview:

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join a well-established Adult Services team. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in assessing and supporting adults with physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and learning disabilities. Key Responsibilities:

  • Occupational Therapy Assessments & Interventions: Carry out assessments and provide interventions to adults with complex needs, promoting independence and enhancing social inclusion.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work within an interdisciplinary setting, liaising with social work colleagues, NHS partners, GPs, and voluntary organisations to deliver high-quality services.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Monitor the effectiveness of recommendations for works of adaptation, equipment provision, and manual handling assessments, ensuring that interventions are achieving desired outcomes.
  • Supervision & Mentorship: Support and supervise junior staff, Occupational Therapy Assistants, and students, ensuring they are following best practices and maintaining high standards.
  • Case Management & Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and contemporaneous case records, ensuring that all information is correctly logged within the computer-based data systems.
  • Service Development: Contribute to the development of services within the council's catchment area, providing innovative ideas to enhance service delivery.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and contribute to team meetings, ensuring that best practices and collaborative approaches are maintained within the team.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Essential:

    • A recognised professional Occupational Therapy qualification and current HCPC registration.
    • Significant experience in Occupational Therapy, including working with adults with complex needs (physical disability, sensory impairment, learning disability).
    • Strong understanding of manual handling assessments, equipment provision, and home adaptations.
    • Experience of supervising and mentoring junior staff or students.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
    • Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, ensuring compliance with relevant data protection and financial regulations.
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies, including Health and Safety regulations.
  • Desirable:

    • Experience working within a local authority or public sector setting.
    • Familiarity with financial regulations and council policies.
    • Experience in leading service development or improvement initiatives.
