Occupational Therapy Lead Northampton From £50,000 per annum - Monday – Friday – 09:00 – 17:00Our well established and growing client based in Northampton are currently seeking an experienced Occupational Therapy Lead to join their business to oversee the delivery of occupational therapy services.The successful candidate will be responsible for supervision of the Occupational Therapists and the Occupational Therapy Assistants across the organisation, supporting with the development and implementation of various therapeutic programmes to ensure the highest standards of patient care at all times.  In return our client can offer a forward-thinking, progressive working environment.Key Duties:
  • Responsible for overseeing the delivery of occupational therapy services.
  • Responsible for supervision of the Occupational Therapists and the Occupational Therapy Assistants across the business
  • Developing and implementing therapeutic programs ensuring the highest standards of patient care within the team.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the occupational therapy team across the mental health hospital and care homes.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and professional development of occupational therapy staff.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews to ensure team effectiveness and adherence to clinical standards.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive occupational therapy programs tailored to the needs of mental health patients and care home residents.
  • Ensure evidence-based practices are utilised in all therapeutic interventions.
  • Conduct regular audits of KPIs for occupational therapy and quality checks to maintain high standards of care.
  • Provide feedback to NHFT regarding KPIs of activities for patients at hospital sites.
  • Perform assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide direct therapy to patients with complex needs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create holistic personalised care plans.
  • Advocate for patient needs and work to enhance patient independence and quality of life.
  • ·Identify opportunities for program improvement and innovation in therapeutic practices.
  • Implement new therapeutic techniques and programs that address emerging patient needs.
  • Ensure programs comply with regulatory standards and best practice guidelines.
  • Participate in staff personal Development Plan working towards agreed objectives and undertaking training where necessary.
  • Assist in the maintenance and control of stock equipment and materials, and to use unit stock with due care and economy.
  • To build a positive relationship with patients and to use a variety of communication skills, in a way that respects their views, autonomy and culture.
Skills & Experience Required:
  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy by recognised awarding body College of Occupational Therapists.
  • Satisfies the criteria for full Membership of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Must be a State Registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Educated to master’s level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area
  • Evidence to support knowledge base in specialist area preferably within Mental Health Hospitals
  • Evidence of post registration education and continuous professional development
  • Specialist clinical skills across Inpatient Occupational Therapy
  • Extensive knowledge of Occupational Therapy equipment, experience in teaching other professional, public and patients in its use.
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • An approved Occupational Therapy supervisor for OT degree students
  • At least 2 years post qualifying experience
  • Substantial experience of working within Mental Health, Adult Care experience
  • Substantial experience of inpatient work.
  • Experience in working in a similar setting with people with mental health challenges.
  • Developing self through review procedures.
  • Confidence in handling difficult and stressful situations.
