Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be partnering with a precision engineering company in their search for an Operations Director, to have overall responsibility for their South Yorkshire site. Reporting to the Managing Director, the position has hands-on responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the site and its people. The role is involved in the full product lifecycle, from design and engineering to order acceptance and sign-off, therefore a good technical engineering background will be advantageous.
The Operations Director will:
- Oversee the engineering function to ensure all projects are adequately monitored and controlled and that all performance and value criteria are optimised
- Assess the technical and commercial viability of inbound enquiries
- Facilitate effective manufacturing planning and improved productivity through process analysis and effective project management, and overall manage the manufacturing operations, including in-house machining of components and product assembly
- Ensure the effective implementation of operational excellence strategies to improve efficiency, whilst controlling budgets to promote profitability and maximise operational efficiency, ensuring all resources are managed effectively within agreed financial parameters
Experience required:
- Ability to lead a technical engineering discipline, whilst showing the necessary commercial and operational leadership skills
- Led an approvals-driven, precision machinery manufacturing process
- Able to discuss strategies and approaches to increasing KPI performance measures and margin/profit within a solutions-led engineering environment
- Manage technical engineering staff members
- Ensure product quality and the relevant standards of approval / accreditation / compliance
- Support the procurement function ensuring effective evaluation of the supply chain, negotiation of supply contracts, negating risk
