Job Description :
Job Title: Operations Manager  This is a full time, location based (SL3 0DL) role with on-site parking.Hours : Monday – Friday, 10.30 – 19.30 with one hour lunch break.Holidays : 20 days per annum plus Bank Holidays, increasing to 25 days per annum plus Bank Holidays after 5 years. Overview: Our client is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Operations Manager to oversee and optimize our logistics operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a dynamic team, ensuring accurate and efficient shipment processing. As the Operations Manager you will play a crucial role in streamlining processes, enhancing efficiency, and maintaining the highest standards of service in the transportation and logistics industry. Responsibilities:
  • Team Management:
    • Lead and oversee the courier, mail, art and freight operation at the Heathrow warehouse.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
    • Develop training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Route Optimization:
    • Liaising with the driver controller and driving team on a daily basis.
    • Collaborate with the planning team to enhance route efficiency.
    • Monitor and adjust routes to accommodate changes in demand or unexpected events.
    • Implement technology solutions to improve route planning and tracking.
  • Driver Management:
    • Support the driver controller identifying problem routes / problem drivers.
    • Manage driver schedules to ensure operational efficiency in processing shipments.
    • Resolve issues and conflicts in a timely and effective manner.
  • Quality Control:
    • Establish and maintain quality control measures for shipments.
    • Monitor and enforce adherence to standard operating procedures.
    • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workflows, output rates and minimising processing errors.
  • Warehouse:
    • Oversee inventory levels and warehouse organization.
    • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure adherence to Health and Safety procedures in the warehouse.
  • ShipArt Team, Remail and Customer Service:
    • Collaborate with the ShipArt and customer service team to address client inquiries and concerns.
    • Liaise daily with both teams and resolve issues promptly to maintain positive client relationships.
    • Ensure packing runs are managed efficiently and art shipments are held / released for shipping according to payment (schedules).
    • Ensure that remail is processed daily and dispatched daily according to schedule.
  • Cost Management:
    • Monitor and control operational costs within budgetary constraints.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficiency measures.
    • Meet with courier and freight suppliers for service level and price negotiations.
  • Compliance and Regulation:
    • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and industry standards.
    • Keep abreast of changes in regulations and implement necessary adjustments.
    • Work closely with legal and regulatory affairs to mitigate risks.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Generate and analyse operational reports to track key performance indicators. (Delivery /transit times, operational errors, mis-deliveries etc)
    • Provide regular updates to senior management on operational performance.
    • Utilize data-driven insights to make informed decisions.
    • Report above to the Board of Directors
  •  Skills Required:
    • Proficient with Microsoft Suite
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player
    • Problem solving and critical thinking 
    Qualifications:
    • Education to A level or equivalent as a minimum.
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or related field preferred but not essential. 
    • Proven experience in logistics and operations management.
    • Certified knowledge of import and export customs procedures and compliance.
    • Experience in liaising with relevant HMRC departments.
    • Certified knowledge of Dangerous Goods by Air, Sea and Road.
    • Forklift licence.
