Roots Shoots Leaves is a leading provider of grounds maintenance and tree surgery services. We work with a diverse range of clients, including property management companies, commercial estates, business parks, and private residential customers. With a strong focus on sustainability and best practice, we are expanding our tree surgery division and seeking a dedicated Operations Manager to drive its success.

As the Operations Manager, you will take ownership of the strategic and day-to-day management of our tree surgery division. You’ll oversee scheduling, client engagement, health & safety compliance, and team leadership, ensuring smooth operations and high service standards. This role is ideal for an experienced arborist looking to step into management or an established operations manager with a strong tree surgery background.

Offering a base salary of up to £45,000, plus a car allowance, you’ll be based in Kingsclere (Berkshire) with travel to sites as required. A full driving licence is essential.

Key Responsibilities of the Operations Manager position:

• Oversee planning, scheduling, and execution of tree surgery works.
• Lead, mentor, and support a team of tree surgeons, ensuring they have the training and equipment needed.
• Act as a key contact for clients, conducting site surveys and assisting with quotations.
• Ensure all operations comply with industry regulations, including risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
• Monitor job execution and conduct quality control inspections.
• Assist with budgeting and cost management to align with business objectives.
• Support marketing efforts to promote tree surgery services and identify new business opportunities.

Skills & Experience:

• At least 10 years’ experience in tree surgery/arboriculture, with experience as a lead climber or arborist.
• Strong operational management experience in tree surgery or a related field.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to liaise effectively with clients, prepare quotations, and conduct on-site surveys.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) and planning applications for tree works.
• Strong understanding of health & safety regulations, including experience with RAMS.
• Experience managing work schedules, team logistics, and job allocation.
