This is a unique opportunity to step away from the traditional classroom and work closely with SEND pupils who cannot attend school, delivering engaging and personalised tuition in their homes or local community centres. About the Role: As an Outreach SEN Tutor, you will:
Provide 1:1 tuition to children and young people with EHCPs who are unable to attend school for various reasons. Support pupils with a range of SEND needs, including Autism (ASC), Speech and Language Communication Needs (SLCN), Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Deliver tailored lessons aligned with the National Curriculum, adapting content to each child’s learning style. Work flexibly in varied settings, such as pupils' homes, community centres, or schools needing additional intervention support. Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, helping them develop confidence, independence, and a love for learning.
Each child is unique, and you will be carefully matched with pupils that suit your strengths and experience. Who We Are Looking For:
Experienced SEND professionals—You must have at least six months of experience supporting children with SEND in schools or specialist settings. Aspiring teachers—This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in teaching. It will provide valuable experience in 1:1 tuition and build confidence. Qualified Teachers (QTS or equivalent) – A great option for those looking to step away from full-classroom teaching and focus on personalised education. Behaviour management skills—To support pupils with additional needs, you’ll need patience, resilience, and a positive approach. Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum – The ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.
