Facilitate seamless communication between students and parents, ensuring everyone feels connected and informed.

About the role

Role type: Fixed term, Residential

Dates: For course dates between end of June and end of August 2025

Working pattern: Saturday to Saturday, 48 hours per week on a shift pattern, 1 day off per week.

Reports to: Course Director

As the Parent Liaison Officer, you will play a key role in supporting communication between Oxford Summer Courses and the parents of our international students, keeping them informed and reassured about their child’s experiences.

Main duties
  • Parent Communication: Serve as the primary contact for parents of international students, providing timely updates and responses to their enquiries.

  • Team Collaboration: Provide updates and insights on parent and agent communications with the on-site team, ensuring support for the student experience and making sure the Course Director maintains oversight.

  • Agent coordination: Assist agents in arranging visits to see their students, ensuring smooth communication without burdening the senior on-site team.

  • Activity Documentation: Spend time with students during activities, capturing photos and recording details of their experiences.

  • Information Sharing: Regularly send updates, including photos and videos, to parents, ensuring they stay well-informed about their child’s activities.

  • Marketing Support: Assist with gathering student testimonials, photographs, and videos for future marketing use.

  • Student Engagement: Support the overall welfare of the students by engaging with them during activities and trips.

  • Residential duties - Up to 10 hrs per week, as part of the residential team including morning registrations, meal time supervision, curfew checks and overnight phone duty.

  • You’re a friendly and approachable communicator, able to build strong relationships with parents and students.

  • You’re able to capture and share moments effectively, ensuring parents feel connected to their child’s experience.

  • You can respond quickly and professionally to enquiries and requests for information.

  • You’re comfortable working closely with young students in a residential setting, ensuring their well-being and enjoyment.
Essential
  • Experience of working in customer-facing roles, ideally involving communication with parents or guardians, and managing enquiries professionally and promptly.

  • Clear evidence of empathetic communication with parents and supporting young people in educational or residential settings.

  • Proven ability to use IT effectively for information sharing, including photos and videos, and to organise multiple communication tasks with strong attention to detail.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, focused on building positive relationships with parents.

  • Right to work in the UK (we cannot sponsor work visas for this role)

Desirable
  • Knowledge of a second language (preferably Mandarin) to facilitate communication with international families, along with safeguarding and welfare protocols in educational or residential settings.

  • Experience working in international environments, ideally within summer schools or similar programs, and leading activities or managing student groups.

  • Familiarity with first aid or safeguarding certifications.
