Job Title: Part-Time SEN Teaching AssistantLocation: SEN School, LeicesterPosition: Part-TimeSalary: £90 - £100 per dayOur partnered SEN school in Leicester is looking for a dedicated and skilled Part-Time SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. The ideal candidate will hold a Level 3 qualification and have proven experience working with children with severe learning difficulties. This role involves supporting either/both primary or secondary-aged students with high needs, and the successful candidate will play a crucial role in helping these children achieve their educational and personal goals.Key Responsibilities:Student Support: Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with severe learning difficulties, assisting them in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities.Personal Care: Assist with personal care needs as required, including toileting, feeding, and mobility, ensuring students' dignity and comfort are maintained.Behavior Support: Implement positive behavior management strategies to support students' social and emotional development, creating a safe and nurturing learning environment.Educational Assistance: Work closely with teachers to adapt lesson plans and teaching materials to meet the individual needs of students with high needs, including those with complex requirements.Communication: Engage effectively with students, parents, and other professionals, providing regular updates on progress and contributing to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and assessments.Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress, behavior, and other relevant information, and report any concerns to the SENCO or appropriate staff members.Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your skills and stay updated on best practices in SEN education.Key Requirements:Education: A Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or a similar qualification is essential.Experience: Demonstrable experience working with children with severe learning difficulties, ideally within a primary or secondary school setting.Skills: Strong communication skills, patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.Knowledge: A solid understanding of SEN policies, procedures, and best practices, including strategies for communication and behavior management.Personal Attributes: A compassionate, patient, and resilient individual who can remain supportive and calm in challenging situations.Desirable Qualifications:Additional training or qualifications related to specific SEN needs, such as autism spectrum disorders or severe behavioral challenges.Working Hours:This is a part-time position.
