Job Description :

An OFSTED Good school in Chorley have approached Hays seeking a Pastoral Officer for their year 8 group of students on a long-term basis until Summer. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive support to students, ensuring their well-being, and fostering a positive school environment. This role involves working closely with students, parents, and staff to address academic, social, and emotional needs, promoting a safe and inclusive atmosphere.Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Support: Provide individual and group support to Year 8 students, addressing their academic, social, and emotional needs.
  • Mentorship: Act as a mentor and role model, guiding students through their personal and academic development.
  • Conflict Resolution: Mediate conflicts between students, and between students and staff, promoting positive relationships.
  • Attendance Monitoring: Track and address attendance issues, working with students and families to improve attendance rates.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement and enforce the school's behaviour policies, providing interventions and support where necessary.
  • Parental Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents and guardians, keeping them informed of their child's progress and any concerns.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, counsellors, and other staff to create a supportive network for students.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student interactions, interventions, and progress.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, Counselling, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with adolescents in an educational or counselling setting.
  • Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills. Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and discretion.
  • Attributes: Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting young people.
