The Role:

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Pastoral Support Worker to join our team. In this crucial role, you will work closely with students, staff, and families to provide emotional and social support, ensuring that all students can thrive in a positive and safe learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Wellbeing: Provide one-on-one and group support to students facing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
  • Attendance Monitoring: Work alongside the Attendance Officer to track and improve student attendance, identifying any barriers to regular school attendance.
  • Safeguarding: Act as a key point of contact for safeguarding concerns, ensuring all issues are dealt with promptly and in line with school policies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and external agencies to create and implement tailored support plans for students.
  • Mentoring: Provide mentoring and guidance to students to promote positive behavior, self-esteem, and resilience.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student interactions and support plans, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with school policies.

What We're Looking For:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a pastoral, mentoring, or youth work role, ideally within a school setting.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Empathy: A genuine passion for supporting young people, with a patient and understanding approach to dealing with sensitive issues.
  • Organisational Skills: Strong organisational abilities, with the capacity to manage a varied workload and respond to changing priorities.
  • Team Player: A collaborative attitude, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently.
