The Role

The successful candidate will join a growing Payroll team as a Payroll Administrator, helping to deliver accurate, timely payroll services across a varied and dynamic client base.

This is full-cycle, end-to-end payroll — from data entry and calculation of SMP/SSP, to direct client interaction, query resolution, and HMRC liaison. Precision and attention to detail are deeply valued in this role.

Beyond just running payrolls efficiently, the Payroll Administrator will serve as a steady, knowledgeable point of contact for clients, providing clarity and support during changes. Internally, they will work collaboratively across teams, contributing to a people-first, client-focused approach.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will:

  • Bring a minimum of 1 year of payroll experience in a high-volume, service-oriented environment (bureau experience is advantageous)
  • Possess solid knowledge of end-to-end payroll processing, including pensions and payslips
  • Be well-versed in statutory payments and current payroll legislation
  • Demonstrate a problem-solving mindset and a commitment to client service
  • Communicate clearly and confidently — whether by email or phone
  • Remain composed under pressure and consistently meet deadlines
  • Be comfortable with manual payroll calculations Tools & Tech

The role will involve regular use of:

  • Payroll software & time/attendance systems (e.g., BMS)
  • Excel — formula knowledge is appreciated
  • Cloud-based collaboration platforms and internal systems
