Payroll Manager

Join the Finance Department of a reputable charity as a Payroll Manager, where you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the payroll operations. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance and offers the opportunity to work flexibly with a hybrid working model.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Gather and verify monthly payroll data from HR, ensuring accuracy before entry into the payroll system (iTrent).
- Support the execution of monthly payroll processes, including adjustments for new hires, terminations, and changes due to parental leave, ensuring all deductions and ad hoc payments are accurately applied.
- Oversee the payroll services for Isle of Man staff, coordinating with the payroll bureau to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Prepare and oversee the distribution of monthly payroll reports, ensuring compliance with payment schedules for salaries and statutory deductions.
- Manage the end-to-end process for employee pension contributions and related reporting, adhering to regulatory requirements and deadlines.
- Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees and external partners efficiently, ensuring clear communication and timely responses.
- Continuously assess and enhance payroll procedures, implementing improvements and conducting training sessions as needed.
- Lead and mentor the payroll team, organizing tasks to meet critical financial reporting deadlines.
- Maintain compliance with HMRC and GDPR regulations, ensuring all payroll activities are conducted in line with legal standards.
- Keep payroll and financial records well-organized and easily accessible for audits and inquiries.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in managing payroll operations within a similar environment (charity).
- Proficient with payroll software: iTrent.
- Exceptional organisational skills, capable of handling multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to liaise with various stakeholders.
- Comprehensive understanding of UK payroll regulations, pension schemes, and data protection laws.
- Leadership skills with experience in team management and development.
