Payroll Officer
  • Annual Salary: £25,000 to £28,000
  • Location: Southend on Sea
  • Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday (No Hybrid)

We are seeking a dedicated Payroll Officer to join our team. This role involves managing payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and providing support across various payroll-related functions. Ideal candidates will have experience with ERP systems and a keen attention to detail.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Preparation of Weekly Expense Payments: Assist in preparing weekly expense payments using the ERP (SAP) system.
  • Timely Rectification of Pay Errors: Support the resolution of pay errors promptly, ensuring appropriate recording for statistical analysis and process improvement.
  • Third-Party Enquiries: Handle enquiries from external bodies such as rental agencies, CSA, and legal firms via letter, phone, or email.
  • Electronic Despatch of Payroll Materials: Assist with sending payslips, P60s, and other payroll-related documents electronically, as well as completing and dispatching P11Ds.
  • Team Integration and Support: Work as an integral member of the team, building rapport and providing support to colleagues when needed.
  • System Testing Support: Participate in system testing due to payroll system configuration updates or year-end patching.
  • Assistance with Payroll-Related Projects: Contribute to projects involving payroll-related topics.
  • Support to Employee Relations and HR Services: Provide assistance to Employee Relations and HR Shared Services colleagues with general enquiries and duties as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of payroll experience.
  • Able to use Microsoft Office products to an intermediate level.
  • Experience of an ERP system, preferably SAP.
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • High level of numeracy skills.
  • Strong planning and organising skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Effective problem analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Desirable: CIPP accreditation such as National Payroll Certificate.
