About the role

You will support the Pensions and Payroll Manager with oversight and direction of the team, triaging contracts, demands and assigning priorities in line with legislation.

You will be a customer focused natural problem solver, who thrives in a busy environment where every day is different. This is a role where every query matters and you really will make a difference, by providing a professional pensions service that directly affects the financial security of those who have served Wiltshire.

What you will be doing

  • Support the Pensions and Payroll manager to provide expertise on all pension matters
  • Oversee pension operations, ensuring timely and accurate service delivery and system reliability.
  • Respond to changes in legislation affecting pensions, implementing necessary adjustments in both policy and practice as required
  • Support the pension function, and its alignment with statutory and Force policies, and maintain high standards to avoid audit issues
  • To proactively manage the pension helpdesk facility
  • supervise the pension team on a day to day basis
  • Provide a Superior customer experience at all times
  • Assist in completing Ad Hoc projects linked to development of pension systems and procedures.

About you and your experience

  • Experience of managing a pension service within a large size organisation
  • Considerable practical experience of processing pensions in a complex environment
  • Experience of supervision of staff
  • Skilled in the building of spreadsheets as required including use of formulae
  • Competent in the use of financial systems
  • A high degree of problem solving skills and an ability to positively manage change with a 'can do’ attitude.
