We are a small People & Culture team of six colleagues providing an end to end HR service to c.200 colleagues who work for Evolve Housing + Support a homelessness charity who have nine services where homeless people live and gain key support from us, based in London (predominately South).
Our friendly team works from our offices (Wimbledon; Stockwell or Croydon) two days per week and remotely the rest of the week i.e. from home or from one of our services/offices.
We are now open to candidates who can join us immediately on an initial six-month fixed term contract.
We have well established HR processes and systems which have recently been reviewed and updated but are always open to new ideas and better ways of doing things.
The key focus for this role is - "To lead the People and Culture team in developing and maintaining high quality comprehensive people focused services. This is fundamentally an HR Operations role"
We use Iris Cascade for all HR & Payroll processing including their recruitment applicant tracking system - this means all people information is held on one system and a candidate who has used a HR system to intermediate/advanced level would have no issues with this standard package. Effectively we have all the basics in place and are a well-established/experienced team. A typical day in the role is varied and includes:
Managing the People & Culture team of two administrators and two advisors to effectively deliver the core HR service and ensure compliance to both legislation and our own core policies and processes
Working collaboratively with our Directors and the other six members of the Senior Management team and leading on people matters across the organisation
Communicating with Evolve Managers & Colleagues by phone, email or face to face, giving policy/entitlement advice and ensuring they can access and effectively use our HR systems and processes
Using reports and data to monitor and make recommendations on our Key Performance Indicators such as learning and development, absence, resourcing and labour turnover
Attending and providing input to internal networks and meetings such as Safeguarding Forum, Policy & Procedure Forum & Health & Wellbeing forums
Inputting to project work in conjunction with operations colleagues and providing employee relations support/advice
Managing suppliers and services such as HRIS, Benefits providers and Recruitment Agencies
Managing the People & Culture team budget
This role (37.5 hours over 5 days) and reasonable flexible working requests can be considered.
Evolve is truly a great place to work, and because we are relatively small, as an HR professional you can really see where you add value. We provide welcome and necessary support to our colleagues and managers who have very difficult but rewarding roles. In our recent staff survey our colleagues scored 9.2 out of 10 to the statement "When somebody new joins our team we are welcoming and help them to settle in" which is a great indication of how it feels to join Evolve. Whilst the team is actively encouraged to develop their HR skills and learn more about the homeless industry/our business this is done in a safe and supportive way and there is always someone to coach you along the way.
