Placement Support OfficerLocation: South East EnglandFull-time roleMyn is recruiting on behalf of our long-term client in the South East of England for a Placement Support Officer. This is an exciting and impactful role focused on supporting vulnerable children and young people, including those with disabilities, by securing high-quality placements that improve their outcomes.Main Responsibilities
  • Assist in sourcing, monitoring, and quality assuring placements for children and young people up to the age of 18.
  • Research and provide market information to optimise the services offered for children, young people, and families.
  • Work closely with social workers, foster care providers, and other relevant partners to ensure high-quality care.
  • Manage emergency and long-term placements, often under time-sensitive and high-pressure conditions.
  • Assist with Children’s Contract Commissioning, ensuring cost-effective and customer-focused care contracts.
Key Duties
  • Source placements tailored to the individual needs of children and young people, ensuring value for money.
  • Support placement processes for foster care, residential care, and special educational needs placements.
  • Monitor performance and compliance of service providers in collaboration with senior managers.
  • Maintain accurate placement records, ensuring all contractual requirements are met and reported on.
  • Build strong relationships with providers, statutory bodies (e.g., OFSTED), and colleagues across services.
  • Act as a point of advice for staff regarding placement procedures and resources.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience in social care or children's services, ideally in placement management or commissioning.
  • Ability to manage a caseload in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a good eye for detail when monitoring contracts.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with various stakeholders.
  • A passion for improving the outcomes of children and young people.
