As a Planner, you will be part of the Transport Inter-site planning team, working alongside Bio-Recycling and site operations teams to ensure Inventory holding plans are efficient and effectively implemented to guarantee high service levels at optimum cost.Your role will form part of the Logistics Management Centre, the in-house centre of excellence for complex and diverse logistics functions across Thames Water. You will be working within a unique cross-functional team, balancing operational demand and strategic thinking, influencing decisions at different levels up to senior management, and helping shape what we do every day and in the future.This is a great opportunity for the right person to progress within the business and especially at a time when they are growing and expanding the LMC.What you’ll be doing as a PlannerYour key duties will include:
- Being responsible for producing innovative operational plans to continuously improve the operation
- Scheduling and executing daily/weekly planning for inter-site resources throughout the TW Region of Operations
- Understanding and operating in-house planning software to produce optimal transport plans and in-house developed resource models
- Challenging current operational methodologies and implementing new ways of working
- Performing trend analysis on performance and conformance to the plan, reporting findings to the lead planner and manager
- Providing technical development and support for current and new team members
- Working alongside and developing relationships with desk planners, supporting and where possible avoiding pollution by diverting and sharing resources more effectively
- Liaising and building relationships with the transport department to improve driver productivity
Base location – Kemble Court, Reading but will be required to work at Basingstoke on occasionWorking Hours are 36 hours a week, Monday to Friday on shift pattern; 05.30am-13.30pm, 07.30am-15.30pm, 09.30am-17.30pmContract Length - 6 months initially to cover an internal secondment. Contract to be reviewed following this period.What you should bring to the role
- Previous experience in an office-based Logistics, Planning, or Scheduling role
- Proven experience working in fast-paced environments and meeting targets
- Strong IT skills, specifically in Microsoft Office, and use of different systems
- Excellent customer service experience
- Proven experience dealing with internal and external stakeholders
- Highly organized and have excellent attention to detail
