Reed Education s seeking a dedicated Primary Teacher and Assistant SENCO to join our independent specialist school that we are representing. This role is ideal for a professional who is passionate about providing high-quality, therapeutic, and child-centred education to pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Day to Day of the Role:
- Spend 3 days a week teaching and engaging students in a nurturing and positive manner, focusing on building strong, professional relationships.
- Dedicate 2 days a week to SENCO duties, working closely with education and therapy professionals, parents/carers, and local authority teams to secure outstanding outcomes for students.
- Create exciting and engaging lesson plans that cater to the individual needs and talents of students, promoting a sense of awe and wonder.
- Manage complex and challenging behaviours with attention, effective communication, consistency, flexibility, and a non-judgmental approach.
- Contribute to the decision-making process that drives the school, advocating for every child and helping to develop both the academic curriculum and extra-curricular offerings.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience in working with children with SEMH and SEND, such as Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties.
- Ability to manage complex and challenging behaviours in a classroom setting.
- Strong commitment to child-centred and therapeutic teaching approaches.
- Willingness to undergo extensive therapeutic training and support.
- Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
