We are seeking a dedicated Year 5/6 Teacher to join our team at our school. This role is ideal for a compassionate educator who is committed to providing high-quality education and support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
Day-to-day of the role:
Teaching and Learning:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the diverse needs of Year 5/6 students with SEMH needs.
- Utilise a variety of teaching strategies and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
Classroom Management:
- Create a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and address challenging behaviours.
- Foster a culture of respect, inclusion, and high expectations.
Pastoral Care:
- Provide emotional and social support to students, helping them develop resilience and coping skills.
- Work closely with the school’s pastoral team to address students’ SEMH needs.
- Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies to support students’ well-being.
Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of SEMH.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and develop innovative teaching approaches.
- Stay informed about current educational research and developments in SEMH.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and behaviour.
- Prepare reports and attend meetings as required.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching primary-aged children, preferably in a SEMH or special education setting.
- Strong understanding of SEMH needs and effective strategies to support students.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
