Cedar is partnering with a Local Authority in the South East to recruit a Principal Accountant to join their dynamic Corporate Finance team. The successful candidate will inform strategic decision making, deliver expert financial advice and spearhead budget maintenance, monitoring and control.
Salary: £52,000 - £62,000 per annum
Location: South East
Hybrid Working Pattern: 2-3 days on site per week
Contract Length: 9 months
Responsibilities
- Collaborate on the annual budget setting process.
- Oversee the preparation of revenue & capital expenditure and income budgets with the Finance Manager.
- Highlight financial risks and opportunities.
- Design robust financial models and analytics to determine the financial impact of future service demands and changes in legislation.
- Seek out alternative funding sources to fill established gaps.
- Streamline internal process improvements.
- Assist with the annual account closedown process in compliance with codes of practice and reporting standards.
- Liaise with external and internal auditors and upkeep accurate audit trails.
- Mentor and train junior members of staff.
Requirements
- CCAB or CIMA qualified.
- Previous experience in a similar role within a Local Authority.
