We are seeking a talented Principal Design & Development Engineer to spearhead the design and development of both standard and special-purpose automation machinery. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design and development of a diverse range of machinery tailored for the battery sector.
- Oversee all phases of new product development from ideation to delivery, ensuring designs meet specifications and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define and negotiate project requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments and execute prototype test plans.
- Facilitate design reviews and document technical reports for the development projects.
- Guide and mentor engineers, enhancing their design skills and promoting professional development.
- Stay abreast of new technologies and propose innovative solutions.
- Manage onsite customer installations and testing of first-off products.
- Maintain compliance with departmental and company processes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Engineering degree or relevant apprenticeship.
- Experience in a design engineering role, with focus on the design of special-purpose machinery.
- Proven experience in leading product development projects from conception through to production.
- Proficiency in CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
- A background in producing detailed drawings with geometrical tolerancing.
- Hands-on experience in build and test environments.
- Knowledge of budget planning and project management is desirable.
