Process EngineerLocation: SedgefieldOpportunity:My client is seeking a Process Engineer to join their growing production team and enhance manufacturing capabilities at a world-class facility in the UK. The company produces a range of products, from low-volume niche devices to high-volume telecommunications and defence equipment.In this role, you will collaborate closely with both the engineering and production teams to support a wide range of products from their conception to volume production. Working with leading-edge technology and experienced engineers, this position offers excellent opportunities for skill development and growth.Purpose of Role:You will focus on developing new processes and refining existing ones to support the production of advanced microwave and mmWave electronic products. This includes building prototype hardware, providing technical recommendations during new product design, and supporting production by programming, maintaining, and optimizing high-precision assembly equipment. Additionally, you will improve processes to increase production efficiency and yield.The role will specifically focus on the assembly of electronic products using high-precision automated die attach and wire bonding equipment for hybrid assemblies.Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Gain a thorough understanding of all equipment and processes within the manufacturing area.
  • Provide technical support to maintain and improve manufacturing yields for existing products.
  • Develop and refine processes as required to support new product manufacturing, including the design and procurement of tooling, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Produce detailed process documentation in a timely manner for the production of modules and assemblies.
  • Establish and monitor process controls to improve production efficiency and maintain product quality.
  • Liaise with equipment suppliers to troubleshoot machinery issues and implement new equipment, applications, and processes.
  • Ensure all manufacturing processes conform to MIL-STD-883/ISO9000 standards.
Requirements:
  • Relevant Engineering Degree (or equivalent).
  • Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment, ideally as a Process Engineer within an RF electronics production or CEM manufacturing organization.
  • Strong knowledge of die attach, wire bonding, and SMT build processes, with familiarity with industry standards MIL-STD-883 and IPC 600, 610, and 7711.
  • Proven experience in process improvement and applying Lean manufacturing principles.
