Job Description :

FREELANCE Procurement Manager needed to work on a brand new rail contract based in Birmingham!

My client, a tier 1 civil engineering contract are looking for a Procurement Manager to join their team on a 6 month contract based out of Birmingham. The role is required during the ECI and procurement phase of a major project due to kick off next year with possible extensions to the main project phase.

We will be assessing you for outside of IR35 for this role with limited company payments!!

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Implement procurement plans as directed by the procurement leader
  • Member of both the project or business unit team, responsible for the delivery of Business Procurement objectives and requirements.
  • Provision and implementation of Project Procurement/Supply Chain/ Category specific / strategic trades.
  • To provide market intelligence / cost advice / supply chain performance management and feedback to Central
  • Procurement and Work Winning.
  • To be responsible and accountable for the Procurement process of subcontractors, materials, plant and services, in accordance with the Project Procurement Strategy
  • To monitor markets and where appropriate, provide alternative procurement strategies to maximise opportunities or minimise risk.
  • To be accountable for the provision of management information and reports in accordance with business requirements.
  • To support and input as necessary regarding procurement activities reporting into project/Business Plan Review (BPR) and general meetings, as required.
  • Develop knowledge of the requirements of the market required to support bids, live projects and business unit needs within your role.
  • Develop professional, robust and effective working relationships with suppliers, sub-contractors and service providers.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or similar / Equivalent HND (not necessary)
  • Experience working on rail and civil engineering
  • Working knowledge of NEC
  • Have a very good work ethic and be willing to work hard
