The role of Production Engineer is split between two areas of the business;
1. Responsibility for production runs - coordinating small, light-manufacture production runs, including product testing, with the aid of a Production Assistant.
2. Providing support in innovative development and prototype testing to a small team of electronic hardware engineers.
Occasional support work would also be involved, diagnosing faults in customer units and repairing them.
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining stock levels of assembled products for sale, and component parts
- Responsible for production-run coordination, including quality control
- Record-keeping of supplied systems
- Periodic customer support and product repairs
- Preparing work for Production Assistant(s) and ensuring that they are working efficiently
- Aiding in Research & Development work as required
- Responding to requests from the development team
- Assembling electronic hardware through hand-soldering and the use of heat gun & bed
- Testing of hardware modules and final assembled products
- Writing or contributing to product/project documentation
- Some basic electrical work on products, mainly wiring-related
- Assessing and understanding customer needs to contribute towards product design
- Possible occasional demonstration of products and concepts to customers
- Maintain an organised workspace
- Other duties delegated by management
Essential Requirements/Qualifications:
- Able to use laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes and signal generators
- Able to solder to a high standard, including small pitch SMT components
- Thorough production builds, good practice as a finisher-completer
- Effective communication
- Organised
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
Advantageous experience:
- Experience with RF
- Experience with low power circuits
- Basic electrical wiring knowledge
- Ability to use a spectrum analyser
