What you’ll be doingYou will be responsible for defining all aspects of the production methods and layouts to ensure the production processes are effective and predictable. Provide input to new and legacy projects to define equipment, work instructions, drawings and tooling as required.
- Optimise and challenge the design with respect to DFM for new products
- Develop manufacturing processes and introduction of bespoke equipment.
- Review and implement process improvements to reduce production costs
- Lead on the implementation of Engineering Changes on the shop floor
- Be first triage of ‘quality’ problems encountered in manufacturing
- Assist in the evaluation of returned materials and products
- Design fixtures and tooling for assembly tasks
- Assist with PFMEA and implement improvements
The skills you need
- Previous relevant production or manufacturing engineering experience, ideally in a low volume / high variety manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Good listener with the ability to influence stakeholders
- Ability to read and interpret designs, with CAD software familiarity desirable
- Resilient and calm under pressure with the ability to work to tight deadlines and communicate at all levels
