MERITUS are recruiting for a Production Test Engineer to join our defence client in Stevenage on an initial 12 month contract.

PRODUCTION TEST ENGINEER - INSIDE IR35 - £36 PER HOUR - UNDERGO SC CLEARANCE - STEVENAGE - 12 MONTHS - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for manufacturing tests of weapon sub-systems, covering both production and development phases at the system and subsystem levels.
  • Offer Test Engineering support throughout the Design and Development stages, starting from the initial concept to the Production Readiness Review and transition to Operations.
  • Facilitate the introduction of Test Facilities, ensuring the configuration control of equipment and facilities is established before use, which includes creating test specifications and operator instructions.
  • Conduct testing of electrical/electronic weapon systems and sub-assemblies, diagnosing production test failures down to the circuit card and component levels.
  • Quickly identify and implement remedial and corrective actions to allow Manufacturing to maintain production schedules.
  • Assess technical problems to develop proposals for test equipment investigations and corrective actions, as well as process improvements.
  • Serve as the Test Engineering representative at Defect Review Board meetings to ensure the efficient resolution of equipment and quality notifications, leading to corrective actions.

Role Requirements (Skills, Training, and Qualifications):

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Electronics, with substantial experience in digital and analogue electronics manufacturing and testing.
  • Solid understanding of measurement and test principles, along with the use of associated test equipment.
  • Familiarity with the typical CADMID product lifecycle for test equipment is desirable.
  • Knowledge of RF and microwave technology at the subsystem level is an advantage.
  • Experience with Environmental testing, including Environmental Stress Screening (ESS), is also beneficial.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to generate test specifications, operator instructions, and technical reports based on higher-level requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan and organize work effectively to prioritize and meet multiple project objectives.
  • Training in manual handling and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD).
