As part of their expansion, they are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join their team on a contract basis.

About the Job:As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead and support multiple engineering projects, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This role requires someone with a strong background in project management, design coordination, and financial control within the oil & gas or chemicals industries.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of the project as the main point of contact for clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Plan and coordinate resources to ensure project deliverables are achieved.
  • Manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and maximising profitability through effective financial management.
  • Oversee contract negotiations, milestone agreements, and project cash flow, ensuring timely invoicing and payments.
  • Develop detailed project plans using MS Project and present progress reports to stakeholders.
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate technical and commercial risks to ensure project success.
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and good engineering practices.
  • Resolve technical issues with clients, engineering teams, and suppliers, ensuring project specifications are met.
  • Prepare project documentation and manage vendor evaluations, deliverables, and equipment quality checks.
  • Lead inspections and testing to ensure activities comply with project requirements.
  • Ensure all work adheres to company and project quality standards, coaching and mentoring colleagues as needed.

Essential Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in delivering engineering projects as a project manager, particularly within the oil & gas or chemicals/petrochemicals industries.
  • Strong track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to high standards of quality.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&ID, PFD, and fabrication documents.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications:

  • PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM PMQ, or similar project management qualification.
  • Experience with engineered systems or modular skids, including pressure vessels, piping, and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of welding techniques, structural design, and fabrication.
  • Experience with project management software and any exposure to PV Elite, StaadPro, or Caesar.
  • Previous experience managing combustion systems, including burners, boilers, and flares.

Summary:

Position: Project Manager

Location: Stoke on Trent

Duration: 12 Weeks initially - Ongoing

Salary: £500 - £650/ Day

Start: Immediate or Notice Dependant
