Our client is looking for an experienced Project Manager to help manage their project on the BAE Naval base in Portsmouth. This role will be responsible for developing site procedures to meet key business objectives, adhere to timescales, build an effective professional working partnership with their client, comply with specifications and maintain a reputation to exceed in the delivery of excellent customer services to ensure contract retention.
As a key member of the project management team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth execution of the Project. Your responsibilities will cover a wide range of areas, from safety and operational oversight to quality control and client communication.
General Responsibilities:
You will establish and maintain efficient site operations, ensuring that all necessary resources such as plant, equipment, materials, and technical information are available. Safety, environmental, and quality concerns will be treated with the highest priority. You will promote the use of the company's integrated Management System (DMS) to ensure standardisation and effective project management throughout the project lifecycle.
Programme Planning:
You will plan detailed work scopes and timelines, ensuring that the site team can execute the project without delays. Procurement and material management will also fall under your remit, with an emphasis on value and avoiding disruption. Regular progress reviews, budgeting, and resource planning will be conducted to ensure alignment with project goals. You will also work closely with the Commercial Manager to develop and monitor a commercial plan, ensuring the project is delivered within budget and on time. Regular updates will be communicated to the Project Director, and risk management processes will be implemented and monitored.
Team Management & Coordination:
Leading and coordinating the work of site teams, including paint and scaffold inspectors, will be essential. You will oversee daily operations, ensure compliance with project specifications, and liaise with the BAE ship management team to provide performance updates and future scheduling. You will also engage with the DIS Project Coordinator to identify potential risks and opportunities. Maintaining high standards of operational efficiency will be a constant focus.
Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSEQ):
You will set an example in promoting and enforcing health, safety, and environmental best practices. Allocating responsibilities, ensuring proper training, and conducting site inspections and audits will be part of your duties to ensure compliance with both company and legal requirements.
Quality Control:
Finally, you will ensure that Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Method Statements, and inspection hold points are produced and properly communicated. By overseeing quality inspections, you will ensure that all aspects of the project meet the required specifications and standards.
The Ideal candidate:
This is initially a contract position paying £35 p/hour. This has the potential to turn into a permanent position.
