CompanyNigel Wright is delighted to be working with a market leading business who supply and install specialist products into major clients and operators across a varied customer base including Water, Telecoms, Power, Electricity and Renewables.  With a continued focus on market growth, our client is now looking to recruit a proposal engineer to support their technical sales team.  The role will predominantly be based from the head office in Cramlington with occasional travel to customers.RoleThe successful candidate will play a crucial role in preparing detailed proposals for key projects, ensuring that solutions meet client specifications and industry standards.Key Responsibilities:
  • Review requests for proposals and outline project specifications.
  • Analyse customer needs and recommend suitable solutions through discussions, project analysis, and assessment of project specifications and site drawings.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather necessary information.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Prepare detailed technical proposals and quotations using Microsoft Office, Sage 200, and Salesforce.
  • Create technical arrangement drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the clients' products, their specifications, features, and applications across various industries.
  • Present products to customers , highlighting technical aspects , benefits and applications
  • Handle inbound customer calls and inquiries in collaboration with team members.
Experience and Skills
  • Strong technical acumen and the ability to understand engineering concepts related to safety-critical systems.
  • Technical or engineering qualifications preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to work within deadlines and manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical specifications and drawings, pricing books, product catalogues, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Work independently and as a contributing team member.
  • Appetite for continuous learning and improvement
  • Knowledge of technical drawing software, with SolidWorks preferred (training can be provided).
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for customer visits and industry events.
