Position: Senior Purchasing and Logistics Manager
Location: Southwest Birmingham (B32)
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 (Negotiable for Exceptional Candidates)
Our client, a prestigious global engineering group renowned for manufacturing large, safety-critical mechanical fabrications, is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Purchasing professional to lead their dynamic purchasing and logistics team. This role is primarily based at their strategic office in southwest Birmingham.
As the Senior Purchasing and Logistics Manager, you will report directly to the General Manager and play a pivotal role in shaping the company's procurement strategy.
Your primary focus will be on establishing and nurturing strategic alliances with key suppliers, particularly in the execution of complex EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects.
You will be tasked with driving cost savings across Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) targets, ensuring the company maintains its competitive edge in a challenging market.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and develop a small, high-performing purchasing and logistics team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Formulate and implement procurement strategies that align with the company’s broader business objectives.
Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships to support the successful delivery of EPC projects.
Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to achieve optimal pricing, quality, and delivery timelines.
Monitor market trends and identify potential risks or opportunities to ensure supply chain resilience.
Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and project management teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Drive cost reduction initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of quality and delivery performance.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will be of graduate calibre, preferably holding CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) qualifications.
You should possess substantial experience in purchasing and logistics within a manufacturing environment, ideally in sectors such as oil and gas, construction, automotive, aerospace, or rail
A deep understanding of EPC project delivery is highly desirable, as is the ability to operate strategically while maintaining a hands-on approach.
