Job Opportunity: Transition from Mainstream to SEN Teacher in a New ARP with a Focus on Autism

Position: Qualified Teacher for SEN Transition Role

Location: Primary School in Harlow

Salary: Full Scale Teacher Pay £31,350 - £45,037, depending on experience

Start Date: Immediate Start

Are you a dedicated and experienced mainstream teacher who is passionate about supporting every child's potential? We are looking for a qualified teacher ready to make a meaningful transition to SEN teaching in a brand-new Alternative Resource Provision (ARP) focused on supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

This unique opportunity allows you to take on a challenging yet highly rewarding role as part of a team pioneering a provision specifically designed to cater to students with autism. The ARP will initially start small, with a strategic plan for growth, and you will be instrumental in shaping its environment, ethos, and educational impact.

Why Transition to SEN in This Role?

Comprehensive Training: No SEN experience? No problem! Full training will be provided, covering autism-specific approaches, communication techniques, behavioral support strategies, and differentiation skills tailored for students with ASD.

Continuous Mentorship: You'll have an experienced SEND mentor by your side throughout the first year, guiding your development and supporting you as the ARP grows. This mentorship includes hands-on classroom techniques, assessment strategies, and collaborative planning.

Rewarding Impact: Unlike traditional classroom roles, this ARP provides the opportunity to make a profound impact in the lives of students who benefit from specialized support. This is a role where your teaching has a direct and lasting effect.

What's in it for You?

Generous Salary Scale: Competitive Full Scale Teacher Pay, ranging from £31,350 to £45,037, allowing you to grow financially while taking on new challenges.

Career Growth in SEN: This role provides a solid foundation for teachers looking to expand their skillset and expertise into SEND, opening up future opportunities in specialized education.

Supportive School Community: Work alongside a team of SEND-trained professionals who are dedicated to creating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment. Your passion for inclusive education will be matched by a school culture that values diversity, empathy, and high-quality training.

Key Responsibilities:

Engage in Specialized Training and Mentorship: Participate in full-scale training sessions and ongoing one-on-one mentorship focused on autism education and tailored teaching approaches.

Deliver Targeted Support for Students with ASD: Create and deliver lessons that support the sensory, social, and academic needs of students with autism, ensuring they thrive in a structured and supportive setting.

Collaborate with a Multidisciplinary Team: Work closely with the school's SEND team, including SENCOs, speech therapists, and occupational therapists, to tailor each student's learning experience.

Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Create and implement effective IEPs and behavior plans, in collaboration with SEND experts, to meet each child's unique developmental needs.

Shape the ARP's Growth: Take an active role in building a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes independence, emotional resilience, and academic achievement.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Qualified Teacher with Mainstream Experience: Whether you're a primary or secondary teacher, your teaching skills will be highly valued in this role. SEN experience is not required, but a strong commitment to learning and adapting to SEN best practices is essential.

Passionate about Inclusive Education: A genuine interest in supporting students with autism and a desire to see every child succeed.

Adaptable and Open-Minded: The ARP environment can be dynamic and challenging, so flexibility, creativity, and a collaborative approach are key.

Eager to Learn: This is a career-shifting opportunity for those who are keen to expand their professional expertise with in-depth training and ongoing mentorship in autism education.

This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for a qualified teacher looking to transition into a rewarding SEN role within a new, purpose-built ARP. You will join a school that truly values diversity, training, and teacher support, and work alongside a team who shares your passion for inclusive education.

If you're ready to embrace a new direction in your teaching career, we invite you to apply today.
