Overview

Gallagher Risk Management Solutions, a key component of UK Retail, is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join our dedicated team. Our team of risk management practitioners is spread across the country, specializing in operational risk support. We are committed to delivering revenue to branches while providing valuable additional services. As a Building Surveyor, you will be involved in a wide range of insurance-related projects, focusing on the repair and reinstatement of predominantly commercial buildings. Your expertise will be crucial in managing all aspects of construction projects related to insurance claims, including building defect diagnosis and associated investigations.

How you'll make an impact
  • Conduct inspections and provide expert advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of various buildings and sites.
  • Perform measured surveys, defect diagnosis, and associated investigations.
  • Assess the condition of existing buildings, identify and analyze defects, and propose repair solutions.
  • Prepare detailed reports, specifications, and drawings for repairs, refurbishment, demolition, and rebuilding projects.
  • Manage project tenders and conduct post-tender analysis.
  • Oversee construction works using recognized building contracts and adhere to current technical standards.
  • Apply relevant legislation, including health and safety, party wall, building regulations, and planning regulation.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external clients to secure work.
  • Deliver in-house or client training sessions as needed.
About You
  • Proven experience in project management, capable of managing large and complex building reinstatement projects to completion.
  • Desirable experience in insurance reinstatement dealing with all insurance perils.
  • Proficient in understanding CAD, CDM Regulations, The Party Wall, Building Regulation, and Planning Legislation.
  • Strong knowledge of building defect diagnosis and associated investigations.
  • MRICS qualified.
  • Possess a full UK driving license.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills for effective internal and external interactions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel for inspections.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
